چکیده

Abstract Background Agriculture being one of the major practices in world has contributed to environmental pollution, especially developing countries where there were no equipment recycle agricultural wastes. Considering high level infestation paddy by Sitotroga cerealella and pollution caused wastes, this research investigated chemical composition toxicity agro wastes (rice husk, maize cob, groundnut cowpea pods) as eco-friendly protectants against . Parameters assessed include adult mortality, oviposition, emergence egg hatchability. Gas chromatography mass spectrophotometry used isolate characterize active compounds present most effective crude extract. Results The results study revealed that all showed mortality effect on S. Cowpea pod powder was toxic moth 33.33%, 36.67%, 46.67%, 50% 60% at concentrations 0.1 g, 0.2 0.3 0.4 g 0.5 g/20 grains after 24 h exposure, respectively. pod, cob extracts 100% concentration ml/20 96 lethal LC 50 90 0.16 0.64 ml which lowest waste extract tested. GC–MS analysis 19 extract, 9, 12-Octadecadienoic acid (a methyl ester) highest percentage total 39.57% 4-Pentenal, 2-methylene (0.12%) least total. Conclusion All observations effective. findings also suggested selected have a promising insecticidal potential can be alternatives synthetic insecticides for control stored product insects.

Ionizing irradiation of adults of Angoumois grain moth (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) and Indianmeal moth (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) to prevent reproduction, and implications for a generic irradiation treatment for insects.

Ionizing irradiation is used as a phytosanitary treatment against quarantine pests. A generic treatment of 400 Gy has been approved for commodities entering the United States against all insects except pupae and adults of Lepidoptera because some literature citations indicate that a few insects, namely, the Angoumois grain moth, Sitotroga cerealella (Olivier) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), and the...

Fumigant Toxicity and Sublethal Effects of Artemisia khorassanica and Artemisia sieberi on Sitotroga cerealella (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae)

Fumigant toxicity and sublethal effects of essential oils from Artemisia khorassanica Podl. and Artemisia sieberi Bess were investigated against adults of Sitotroga cerealella Olivier. To assess the sublethal effects, adult moths were exposed to the LC30 of each essential oil, and life table parameters of the surviving S. cerealella were studied. Higher fumigant toxicity of A. khorassanica (LC5...
